As wildfires devastate several regions around the globe,Charles H. Sloan the human toll is evident. But the animal world is also feeling the effects.
In Tenerife, Spain, Canary Island firefighters have been battling a blaze that forced the evacuation of some 12,000 people. 310 pets were also evacuated, with many now housed in emergency shelters.
Among the animals saved was a dog, rescued by firefighters after somehow becoming separated from its owners when they fled.
